EKO2012 Final Facilities Inspection

The Main Organisation Committee (MOC) and the technical committee for
the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012 will on Thursday
November 1 embark on final inspection of facilities for the sporting
fiesta.
According to the Secretary General, Local Organising Committee
(LOC), Kweku Tandoh, the final inspection of venues that would host
the 25 events to be competed at the championship would be inspected to
ascertain their readiness.
"Come Thursday November 1, we will be having the final inspection
of facilities for the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012.
The inspection is going to be lead by a team from the MOC secretariat,
secretaries and technical directors of the sports federations that
would be taking part in the festival. Other relevant sub-committees of
the LOC, venues and facilities, accommodation and welfare, catering
and feeding and the LOC secretariat itself would be part of the
inspection to all the venues that have been listed as venues for the
festival,” he said.

Tandoh however, said that on Friday November 2, there would be
technical meeting, where all the observations noticed during the
inspection would be harmonized.
He added: “The next day which is Friday November 2, we would be
having a meeting which would be referred to as the technical meeting
that would discuss observations that may have come up from previous
day’s inspections and we will also finalize whatever needs to be
finalized between the federations, the MOC and the LOC Secretariat. At
the end of the meeting, we will come up with a final document stating
the readiness of Lagos State towards hosting the festival.”
On the state’s readiness for the inspection, the LOC scribe said: “I
can say Lagos is ready because since last week we have been hosting
various states that have been coming for the inspection as the new
format that has been set out by the MOC is that the states come on
their own at their own time. But the states’ inspections have been
broken into batches, while the first batch came last week. The second
batch is this week before the final inspection and we have been
embarking on those inspections with the states. Also, His Excellency,
Governor Babatunde Fashola has been receiving a weekly status update
as to the level of work in all the venues and we can say that as at
today we are already in almost every venue for the festival.”
