Used to be, whenever the words "Rihanna" and "mature" were used in the same sentence, the latter was followed by "audiences only," and folks were attempting to decode what she meant by "Birthday Cake." Yes, for the past few years, Rih Rih has seemingly delighted in pushing both boundaries and buttons, tweaking parental units with a string of hits that were as gleefully raunchy as they were, well, unsubtle.

And while she's still the same girl in her personal life — at least if her Instagram account is to be believed — it appears that, musically, Rihanna may be in the midst of some grand metamorphosis: based on brand-new single "Diamonds," one can gather that perhaps, at long last, she's growing up.
To be fair, the single's artwork does feature her rolling diamonds into a joint, but on the song itself, she displays a marked level of (dare I say it?) maturity, one evident in the restrained production and perhaps best exemplified by the first mantra she lays on us: "I choose to be happy."
Now, at 24, she appears willing to put past relationship drama behind her (unless she decides to put Chris Brown on the "Diamonds" remix) and embrace the positivity and fulfillment of a fully realized partnership, singing "When you hold me, I'm alive" and admitting "I knew that we'd become one right away." And she does it with a remarkably clear head, in stark contrast to her previous work, like, say the druggy "We Found Love," or the whirling "Where Have You Been," both of which seemed to celebrate bad love in all its forms. This time out, she's getting by on the hope and promise of better days ahead.
You'd think, as a result, the song would be somewhat boring, at least in the canon of Rihanna's other super-charged, super-sexualized hits, but you'd be wrong. Working with an accomplished songwriter like Sia, and in the capable hands of producers Stargate and Benny Blanco, "Diamonds" instead delivers its thrills gradually, unspooling on somber synth chords and a simple backbeat, eventually building to a sumptuous chorus. There's a certain level of complexity to it, and Rihanna's voice, un-lacquered and free of studio swath, sounds warm, personable and above all sincere. She believes what she's singing here, which is a big step given the context of her words.
And sure, we don't know what the rest of her upcoming seventh album will sound like, and it's entirely possible she'll drop a raunch-tastic music video to accompany "Diamonds," though I sort of doubt it. Rihanna seems to be embracing her newfound maturity this time out, which, while probably inevitable, is also a welcome departure. She's no longer searching for love "in a hopeless place," she's found it right in front of her, and for the moment at least, she's content to stay here.

Kim Kardashian has been blowing up our Instagram feed with photos of the latest addition to the Kardashian klan. No, we're not referring to last week's "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" finale where Kourtney pulled out daughter Penelope during child birth (that did happen and is worth a Google search if you haven't seen it yet), but instead a photo of Kim's new teacup Persian cat Mercy. Not as intriguing as Kourtney's delivery, but so adorable nonetheless.

If you're a fan or even casual listener of Lupe Fiasco's music, it's clear that the Chicago rapper is well versed  in politics, but don't misinterpret the lyrics on his new album Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1 as unpatriotic.
"Now I can't pledge allegiance to your flag/ 'Cause I can't find no reconciliation with your past," Lu spits on the album's first song, "Strange Fruition," a modern-day take on Billie Holiday's 1933 racially charged "Strange Fruit."

"I don't know if I should speak on that, to be honest," a reluctant Lupe said on Wednesday's (September 26) "RapFix Live."
Though he was a bit hesitant, Lupe went on to explain the song's lyrics, noting that his refusal to pledge allegiance to the nation's flag is partly due to his Muslim faith as well as his political views instilled in him by his progressive parents. "My moms and my pops told us when we were little kids, 'You don't say the pledge of allegiance'," the rapper began to explain. "More from a religious kind of thing, halfway. You pledge your allegiance to God and that's it. Being Muslim and things like that, you don't pledge allegiance to no flag."
On top of that, America has some changes to make before he would consider pledging his allegiance to the U.S. "My father was a Black Panther, my mama was super intellectual, left-wing, the whole kind of situation. So it's that layer on it too," he said. "Not yet, you don't pledge allegiance yet, we're still working on this place."
In his music, Fiasco has consistently questioned U.S. politics and shed light on socio-economic inequalities. He also once called President Barack Obama a terrorist and refuses to vote in the November 6 presidential election. But does this make him anti-American or unpatriotic? Lupe laughs off the notion.
"Give me a little benefit of the doubt before we start tacking stigmas and putting definitions on me," he said, defending that there is more to his person than what we hear in his music or see in his interviews.
Actually, Lupe sees himself as quite the opposite. For him, in order to truly love his country, you must take the good with the bad. "Let's just say that The Great American Rap Album, in its totality, both albums and all the music that's in it is me trying to define what America is. Trying to figure out what an American is," he contended. "If you truly are a part of something and even if you say you take the good with the bad, or the lesser of two evils, you still have to take into consideration the evils and you still have to take in the considerations of the bad."
The exceptional MC uses Food & Liquor II's first single, the Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth-sampling "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" to illustrate his point. "America created Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth to make one of the illest hip-hop beats of all time; that's American culture," he said before setting his sights on the ills in impoverished American cities like Camden, New Jersey, and Pine Ridge, South Dakota, which he raps about in "Around My Way."
"America produced that, the beauty of that record. But America also produced Pine Ridge, South Dakota," he argues. "That's America, does that make you a bad person to recognize that and embody that?"
Through his music, Lupe Fiasco identifies what he sees as the country's problems. With his lyrics, hopes to bring an understanding that could aid in eradicating social injustice. "What is being an American? What is being patriotic? Do you sweep that under the rug or do you try and help your fellow American?" he said. "Do you help them by bringing that situation to the forefront and letting people see it?
"I know I get hit for it, but I'm gonna hit y'all back. Now you gotta tell me: What's America? Is it just New York, is it just Chicago? Is it just the beautiful things?" he asked.

Nicki Minaj might be in the midst of a full-on small-screen takeover. Not only has she just signed on as one of the judges on "American Idol," but rumor has it she is in talks to star in her own reality show focused on her life.
Now, the multi-colored MC may soon pop up on the E! network alongside the Kardashians and the Jonas family, according to Perez Hilton sources. Minaj teased her possible reality-show dreams in an interview with Perez.

"That I'm going to keep a secret for now," she said, "I thought I'd never do something like that, not saying I am still.
I'm still considering. But, I will say that I find the more people see, is the more they understand, and then it's the more they like you. I'm not running away from it anymore."

Perhaps she's considering a foray into reality TV a bit more seriously since her pal Kanye West has been popping up alongside his lady, Kim Kardashian, on this past season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Earlier this week, MTV News caught up with Nicki why she wanted to join "Idol." "It's a milestone for me; it's a milestone for hip-hop; it's a milestone for young black women," Nicki said. "Has there ever been a black woman [judging] on the show? This is a show that 20 million people watch so I feel like we should be represented on that show and I'm very proud of my decision to do it."

We're gonna have to come up with an appropriately regal title for Lil Wayne now. Weezy F. Baby just won't cut it when you surpass the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, for the record of most Billboard Hot 100 hits.
According to Billboard, thanks to his feature on the new Game song "Celebration," which debuted at #82 this week, Wayne set the new high point for the most Hot 100 entries at 109, passing the 108 posted by the late rock king between 1958 and 2003.

Though the "Glee" cast has totaled 204 entries on the Hot 100 since 2009, Wayne holds the artist title,
mostly thanks to his many, many features on other people's songs. In fact, only 39 percent (42) of the rapper's solo hits account for his total, with the other 61 percent (67) made up of his features on songs by pals including Juvenile, Destiny's Child and Birdman. Presley, on the other hand, was listed as the lead artist on all 108 of his chart hits and he still holds the title for most Hot 100 entries by a lead solo artist. For now, he's easily ahead of the artists behind him, which include James Brown (91), Aretha Franklin (73) and Ray Charles (72).
Presley might easily have sealed the crown forever had some of his biggest hits not been released before the Hot 100 chart was established. According to Billboard, Elvis had 31 songs on the pre-Hot 100 chart between 1956 and 1958, including such smashes as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Don't Be Cruel" and "Hound Dog."
Presley's reign lasted from the time the Hot 100 was established on August 4, 1958 through October 4, 2003, while Wayne managed to pass the king's total over 13 years and three months, with his first charting song hitting the week of July 10, 1999, when he was just 18. The recogniation of Wayne's new high-water mark comes on the rapper's 30th birthday, which he is celebrating today. The only other contemporary artist on the list is Jay-Z, who clocked in at #8 with 71 charting singles.

There's absolutely no telling what Jay-Z will do next. After Hov is done selling multiplatinum albums, signing new superstars and opening up sporting arenas in his native Brooklyn, maybe he'll consider a future in politics--or maybe not.
"I don't even like the word politics. It implies something underhanded and I think we need less government," Jay-Z told MTV News while he walked the record carpet at his 40/40 Club in Manhattan to celebrate the release of the "NBA 2K13" video game, a title which he executive produced.

While a rapper in office may seem far-fetched, Jay's close relationship with President Barack Obama led
many to wonder if the music mogul has his sights set on public office. But Jay isn't so turned on by the idea. "To be honest with you I think a lot of people are serving their own agendas, so they just argue back and forth and they think about their next term," he said. "And it's more about themselves than about the people. They're servicing the people, but we rarely get anything done because they're going back and forth with whatever they're doing, so I'm not really into politics."
Still Jay whole-heartedly supports the President and even aided in his reelection campaign by throwing a fundraiser which brought in $4 million to the Obama camp on September 18. "I support Barack because I gotta respect that sort of vision. I gotta respect a man who is the first black President ever," he said. "To have that sort of vision and dream, I have to support that."
Back in 1991, then-President George Bush, Sr. had gangsta rapper Eazy-E over to the White House for a luncheon. It was a pretty big deal at the time, so for Jay to now be hosting fundraisers and have such a close relationship with the POTUS is surreal. "I'm still kind of numb about it, I can't figure it out like how this happened and this journey and everything that's going on," he said. "It's like way beyond the reach I thought hip-hop had. I knew it was the most powerful music worldwide, the culture itself, but it always amazes me the power that it has. Still, to this day."

"We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston" special is slated to air on CBS on November 16. Celine Dion will also perform on the show, with additional performers to be announced soon.
The special, which will tape at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on October 11, will celebrate Houston's life with interviews and songs from a number of artists, in addition to some of the six-time Grammy winner's most memorable performances. Fans will also get a look at some never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews, along with artists sharing their memories of Houston.

A new greatest hits album, I Will Always Love You -- the Best of Whitney Houston, will hit stores just days before the special airs, on November 13. Garcia added copyright claims to the case, is suing the hundreds of people who reposted the video on YouTube, and is also asserting that YouTube cannot "lean on the safe harbor provision of the Digital Millennium Act [to show the video] because it failed to remove the video at the behest of a copyright owner," THR reports.
This type of case isn't typical for the entertainment industry, because actors generally sign release forms that make filmmakers harmless from claims like libel.
But Garcia's attorney says she never signed a release form.
"It was a slipshod production," Cris Armenta told the mag. "She didn't assign copyright. We spoke to six actors [in the film] and their reps and nobody has come up with something like that. The only thing [Garcia] signed was that she would receive IMDb credits."

Now that Garcia has filed the case in federal court, she will have to show why acting performances are copyrightable in order to win.
And it looks like she's already taken the first step to prove it.

Johnny Lewis, an actor who most notably appeared on the FX series Sons of Anarchy, died on Wednesday in Los Angeles after he either fell or jumped off a roof to his death at a home where an 81-year-old woman was found dead inside.
Authorities say 28-year-old Lewis is suspected of killing the woman, who owned the house. He may have been renting a room from the homeowner, identified as Catherine Davis by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
Officers had been sent to the residence after receiving reports of a woman screaming.
Sons of Anarchy boss talks "emotional impact" of game-changing death
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman, Lewis was seen fighting with neighbors outside following the alleged altercation with Davis.
He was then spotted climbing up on the roof  and was later found dead on the driveway.
Lewis also appeared on such programs as The O.C., Boston Public and Criminal Minds as well as the feature film The Runaways with Kristen Stewart.

She's 28years old and he's 32years old. They started dating 4years ago. Initially she didn't want to date him because she was worried he was going to be stingy because he's igbo but when she got to know him better she realised that he was in fact the opposite of stingy. She's from Edo state but lives in Abuja with her cousin working as a cashier in her cousin's saloon.  Emeka's parents weren't rich in fact according to him he had to do all kinds of part time jobs to see himself through school likewise his siblings and fortunately for him after he graduated and did his masters he got a very good job immediately and because he's very intelligent and hard working his boss liked him a lot and promoted him to a high position within a few years of working in the company.

Most of his colleagues were so jealous of him but Emeka had bigger dreams he wanted to be his own boss so he saved a lot of money and came back to Nigeria to start his company and fortunately his company is doing excellently well. I mean Emeka is super rich, he has branches in 3 majors cities in Nigeria with the headquarters in Abuja where he's based. He has up to 700 employees he treats his employees like family I guess it has to do with how he had to struggle to be where he is today and in my opinion I think he pays them well too at least I know for sure he pays his drivers 60k a month that means he pays the ones working in the office more.

Well the main gist is that because Emeka believes so much in education and wants the best for my friend he decided to send her and her two only brothers to school in America, there's no kind of names his friends didn't call for making that decision but he didn't care all that matters to him is her. He loves and worships my friend like she's his god on earth. When she and her brothers finally went to America to school they had the best of everything people thought their dad is a politician or works in an oil company because Emeka has a very lovely house in America and provided them with everything they wanted, gives them money a lot and refused to let them have a part time job because according to Emeka he didn't want anything to distract them from their studies.

And despite the fact that he's a very busy man he still manages to travel to America twice every month to see her and most weekends he travels with her out of America I mean for someone that didn't even have an international passport before she met him and has now been to over 25 countries I'm not even exaggerating I mean that's a lot of travelling but Emeka loves travelling so that explains why they travel that much and they only seat in front of the plane and lodge in the best hotels wherever they travel to.

Most times I tease her that she's living a celebrity life, Emeka loves to lavish money on her. Most of her stuffs are designers I mean the cheapest wrist watch she has is Guess. He spends so much money on her parents, gives them monthly allowance. Last year her mom was seriously ill and Emeka had to send her to America for treatment and even took my friend's father too because he wanted him to be there when she goes for her surgery. He paid for everything from visa,tickets,hospital bills including feeding for the 2months they stayed in his house.

Emeka is a perfect man and what amazes me about him is his humble nature for someone that has so much money. And to be honest every day I pray for my own miracle to meet someone like Emeka not exactly like Emeka because that will be asking for too much there can only be one Emeka and my friend is the luckiest girl in the world to have him.

He proposed to her on her last year birthday in Milan that's where he took her to for her birthday but he told her they'll only get married after her graduation and remembered vividly that day because she sent me a photo of the ring on BBM with a message I said yes and I was very happy for her not only did she have a handsome and tall man she also has a beautiful diamond ring and I told her I could only imagine how much the ring would have cost since Emeka only goes for the best.

My friend told me in March that she's been having an affair since January with a white man but she couldn't tell me all this while because she was worried I might not support her I was very surprise and disappointed not just in her but her mom because she told me her mom is aware of it and supports her. The thing is the white man is married with three kids but she claims that he has promised her that he's going to divorce his wife because their marriage isn't working out. Anyway I travelled to America last month for the first time to visit my sister because she just delivered beautiful twins even though I get to see my best friend every xmas because Emeka always pays for her and her brothers to come to Nigeria every xmas to celebrate it with their family and friends.

 I was still excited to see her in America she was always coming to visit me in my sister's place so I asked my sister if it was ok for me to go and spend like a week with her in her house and she was ok with me so my friend came to pick me up since I'm a JJC in town. I got to finally meet the white man when he came to visit her or should I say have sex with her in Emeka's house, the truth is the white man doesn't even know that she's engaged because according to her she only wears the ring whenever Emeka is around and she told the white man that her uncle owns the house and that he comes to America every two weeks and that he's very strict and wouldn't want any man to come and visit her in his house, so the white man accepted not to come whenever the uncle is around. I hated the white man the very first time I set my eyes on him when he left his drink downstairs and they both went upstairs to do whatever they went to do I wished I could poison it because for some reason I blamed him for what was happening and I had this feeling that something is going to go wrong.

Well after a week I went back to my sister's house and Emeka came to visit my friend as usually he even bought cloths and gave my sister money for her babies the day he followed my friend to visit us and even took me out with them for dinner before he went back to Nigeria he usually stays for just 4days whenever he visits. My friend came to pick me up that she wasn't feeling too well and wants me to accompany to the hospital but my sister is a nurse so the first question she asked her was if she has seen her period and my friend and I just looked at each other and started laughing because in the past we've often thought she was pregnant because my friend usually has an irregular period sometimes she only sees her period twice a year and my sister asked her why she hasn't gone to the hospital to find out what the problem was she said that she has discussed it with Emeka and he has promised to take her to see a doctor after their wedding but my sister with her busy body wouldn't just give up she called her colleague if she could help her carry some tests for her sister's friend and that was how my friend went to do the test and it was confirmed that she's 4months pregnant even though I know she has always had an irregular period but being pregnant for 4months without knowing was a bit strange to me.

But anyway I was happy for her and I told her Emeka would be so happy when he finds out and she just laughed like what I said was funny and she told me that the white man is the father of the baby and I asked her how come she's 100% sure about this and she told me that she stopped having sex with Emeka 5months ago because the white man promised her that as soon as he divorces his wife he'll marry her so she didn't want to cheat on the white man by sleeping with Emeka so she told Emeka that she wants to take a break from sex she said Emeka almost went mad with anger when she told him initially but since he always let her have her way in everything he has managed to be patient with her about it and I was surprised I mean how many guys would understand but then Emeka wasn't just like any other guy he was different. Sometimes I wonder if his a human being or an angel that God sent on a mission on earth. I mean how many guys would make such sacrifices Emeka has made for my friend without being married to her first, I don't know any guy that would take that risk especially not an igbo guy.

Well I asked her what she plans to do with the pregnancy and hope she's aware that this pregnancy is going to ruin her relationship with Emeka and she shocked me by saying she has always wanted to have mixed race children because they're fair and beautiful and that she would rather marry the white man because if she marries Emeka and he dies in the future that his family members will come and drag his money and properties with her but that will never happen if she marries the white man when he dies everything he has will be hers that God has answered her prayer. Well I asked her when she's going to tell the white man and she said he'll be coming over to visit her in 2days time and she would want me to be there when she tells him because he's going to pop champagne so I said ok I'll be there and she followed me back to my sister's house to spend the night there and the following day I followed her to her house in the evening and the white man came the next afternoon.

When he came inside the house she didn't even waste any time she told him she's carrying his baby and that she can't wait for him to hurry up with his divorce and marry her so they'll have a perfect family. The look on his face was out of this world, it was as if he saw the devil he was silent for a while and he finally spoke and told her that he doesn't want to have any more kids and that he can't force her to have an abortion but if she decides to keep the baby then he'll end the affair and will only pay for child support after he gets the DNA result of the child but he'll never for one day come to see her or the child. And the first word that came out of her silly mouth was that so white men do tell lies I thought they don't lie and she asked him why he told her he was going to marry her and he said because I never thought you will be so stupid to believe that I would divorce my wife to marry a black woman do u expect me to lose my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and everything I've worked for all my life for sex don't u think that's too much of a sacrifice to make and he said I'll call u tomorrow to know what your decision is and he left.

She cried all day and called her mom to tell her everything that happened and her mom told her to keep the baby because this might be the only chance she has to have a baby and that she'll make sure that the white man changes his mind and that was how my friend managed to sleep that night and the next day the white man called her and she told him she has decided to keep the baby and he hanged up on her. It’s been a week since she told him about it and she hasn't seen or heard from him he doesn't pick her calls. And the annoying thing is that she doesn't even know where he lives.

Well Emeka is coming back soon and I'm leaving America next week but I've given her the only advice I can think of and that's she and brothers should start looking for a part time job so they can pay for their school fees and rent a small apartment to live because even though Emeka is an angel he will so throw them out of his house when he eventually finds out about her pregnancy. What still surprises me is that she has never talked about how Emeka will feel when he finds out. It’s like she doesn't even care about him. But I know she has made the biggest mistake of her life may God forgive her. But I really wish she'll change her mind and abort the pregnancy but on a second thought is it not going to be too risky for her to abort a 4month old pregnancy.

I really wish I was brave enough to tell Emeka about the white man just maybe he would have talked some sense into her he always have a way of having solutions to every problem but then I would have betrayed my best friend. I wish her brothers had told him about the white man because they knew about it from day one. I wish she never met the white man. I wish her mom advised her against dating the white man. Emeka doesn't deserve this betrayal. He even promised to give me a job in his company next year after my youth service but with the way things are right now I don't think I can face him every day knowing what my best friend did to him that's if he's even going to agree to employ me again after he finds out the truth. I'm sure he'll hate me too. He'll think we all planned it. Well I can't blame him I deserve it I should have damned the consequences and told him everything. Now it’s too late. What can he do to change what has happened.

I asked myself if it’s worth it her going to lose Emeka because of the baby it wasn't as if the white man was giving her money just gifts. Somehow I don't think she and her brothers will be able to continue with their education because the school fees for the 3 of them is just too expensive. And to think she has learnt her lesson hell no her plan right now is to find a small apartment to move out to before Emeka finds out and throws them out and after she delivers she'll start hustling for another white man that will continue from where Emeka stopped. I strongly believe that sooner or later she'll regret what she has done to Emeka and I pray God gives him a good wife that will truly love and cherish him like he deserves because he deserves to be happy and I also pray he gets over this heart break he's about to experience. All because she wants to marry a white man she wants to lose a good man like Emeka.

Since the Hennessy Artistry club Tour kicked off on August 31st, Hennessy has toured Port Harcourt, Calabar, Abuja and Lagos, with some of the most promising acts of 2012.

This happened in Zimbabwe but I have decided to post it because I know a lot of women who have kids read this blog. I also know they have house helps, you can tell from their comments, lol. So please read and trust no maid.

In a bloodcurdling incident, a domestic worker from Gwabalanda suburb in Bulawayo Zimbabwe betrayed her employer's trust when she was allegedly caught sucking blood from the nose of her employer's four-year-old child.

The mother (name withheld to protect the identity of the child) revealed that she got a tip-off from her neighbour after she had heard her child screaming in pain at the same time every day. Sinanzeni Moyo, employed as a baby-sitter, had worked for the woman for two months. Click to continue.

"A neighbour came to me one weekend asking about my relationship with Sinanzeni(the maid). I told her that she was doing her duties well and the only problem we had was that my daughter was afraid of her," said the mother of the baby.

The neighbour reportedly informed her that every day at around 9am, she usually would hear her daughter screaming.

"We then agreed that on Monday, I will unexpectedly return home at around nine to check on what would be taking place to my daughter. I kept quiet about the matter and on Monday I got home at around 9.15am and proceeded to the bedroom. As fate would have it, my daughter was crying loud such that Sinanzeni never heard me opening the doors. I caught her busy sucking blood from my daughter's nostrils," she explained.

The baffled woman said she shouted at the maid but she continued 'feasting' on the child's blood and only stopped when she hit her with an open hand on the face.

"Surprisingly, Sinanzeni pretended as if everything was okay and before I could ask her what she was doing, she threatened me. She told me that I should never say a word to anyone about the incident if ever I still wanted to see another day with my daughter. In the evening, I visited my neighbour and told her what I had discovered. When we confronted the maid about the issue, she walked out on us saying she did not owe us any explanation," said the child's mother.

The neighbour confirmed the incident, adding that they suspected that Sinanzeni gave them wrong details and her phone was no longer reachable.

"I guess that maid was a Satanist and now we do not even know where to look for her and her phone is unreachable. At least she left that family alive," said the neighbour
