A man who punched a 16-year-old girl to the ground in an apparently random attack has admitted an assault charge, Scotland Yard said.

Michael Ayoade, 34, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court today and pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The girl was walking along near the Black Lion pub in High Street, Plaistow, east London when he jogged up behind her and punched her in the head.
She immediately fell to the ground and was left sprawled across the pavement, suffering broken teeth.
Earlier this week police released CCTV footage of the attack, which happened at about 12.30pm on November 13. Ayoade, of Greengate Street, Plaistow, was remanded in custody to appear at Inner London Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

Lady Gaga has revealed how she found 35 fans hiding in her garage after she wandered naked to her kitchen for a late-night snack.

She went on: "I should be mad I guess except I tried to figure out how to slide stuffing under the door, but there's no cat-flap.
"#MONSTERFACT when gaga is asleep try to break into the garage, sing loud as possible, + ring the doorbell repeatedly #happening now #bad kids, (sic)."
Reports suggest police were not informed and Gaga decided to share food with the fans.
While she was in Brazil during her Born This Way Ball tour, she sent burgers and fries to fans camped outside her hotel, tweeting: "Im sending you hamburgers, fries and coke. I love you monsters. (sic)"

Arsene Wenger has floated a radical idea to try and improve the English game – by suggesting the season could be started in January.

Many managers have often looked for a winter break, but the Arsenal boss has recommended going even further by rewriting the traditional football calendar to follow the lead of leagues like the Japanese J-League and the MLS in America.

"I understand it looks completely strange as people have been educated the current way but I moved to Japan and the season was in January to November," he said,
"We started training in January and after a while it was completely normal.
"The period of rest would be the same. It wouldn’t change the number of games. You would not be confronted with these situations when players are playing in two different championships. You would play during the summer period in the best period for football to be played."
Wenger said that he feels English football is at a disadvantage over leagues like Germany and Spain who both enjoy a winter break.
However, despite these concerns, the Frenchman still believes that the Premier League is the best in the world despite some underwhelming results in Europe this season.
"I don’t think we are getting worse. Maybe we have less room, less margin, than we had before when it was just a question of when we would qualify (from our Champions League group)," he said.
"Now German football has come up, Spanish football is there every year and some French clubs have come back like Paris Saint-Germain.
"It looks less obvious for us. But I still think England is the best league, because there’s something more here. It’s not only linked with what you see on the pitch but how you experience football. And when I speak to the players they say exactly the same."

A comedian staging a fake theft ended up with more than he bargained for when he was caught by a police community support officer.

The officer thought a crime was in progress when TV star Simon Brodkin pretended to steal his own DVD.
Brodkin was in character as one of his creations - South London tearaway Lee Nelson - and was doing a signing at HMV on London's Oxford Street.
He staged a stunt in which he "stole" one of his own DVDs, after which he was chased around the store by an actor dressed up as a police officer.
They ended up running outside, where they were spotted by the real officer who detained Brodkin.
A spokesman for the comedian said: "Somehow they ended up out on the pavement, where a real police community support officer got involved, thinking it was a theft taking place.
"Shoppers were looking on and buses were stopping, it was all very dramatic.
"The community support officer brought him back into the store where it was explained that it hadn't been a real theft taking place."
Brodkin, a former doctor who gave up his medical career to pursue work as a stand-up, stars in his own BBC Three show, Lee Nelson's Well Good Show.
The programme sees Brodkin, in character as happy-go-lucky chav Nelson throughout, hosting a studio show before an audience.
He has also written for and appeared with comedians Al Murray and Jason Manford

An elderly man has died after becoming trapped in his 4x4 in floods after large parts of the UK were hit by strong winds and heavy rain.

There has been a respite in the downpours, but the wet conditions are expected to return this weekend with gale force winds in parts.
Around 70 flood warnings and about 150 less serious flood alerts are in place for rivers.
The areas most affected by the heavy downpours were Wales and southwest England.
But the majority of the UK was hit by the storms as they were pushed eastwards throughout Thursday, causing flash flooding. Much of the rain overnight fell on already saturated ground.
Hundreds of drivers were stranded, thousands of homes were without power and more than 100 people were evacuated as winds reached more than 86mph.
The unnamed man who died after becoming trapped in his car in floodwater is believed to have been visiting a relative when his 4x4 was swept away crossing a ford.
The Mitsubishi Shogun was completely submerged, wedged under a small wooden bridge at Rectory Fields, in Chew Stoke, Somerset, at 8.50pm on Wednesday.
Fire crews, police and search and rescue teams attended the scene and found the victim who was pronounced dead on the way to hospital.
The vehicle was winched from the stream by a forklift truck and lifted onto a truck before being taken away.
Chew Stoke resident David Smith, 76, said it was the second time in 24 hours in which a 4x4 had got into trouble crossing the ford.

Mr Smith said: "About 24 hours ago, a Land Rover came past here and I flagged him down and told him he ought not to try and cross the ford, but he did and he was swept away in the middle of the ford.
"Fortunately, his vehicle was caught by one of the bollards on the road and he was able to climb out of the window on to the roof."
In Torquay, Devon, several homes were evacuated after a landslide. Part of a cliff face was hit by a landslip after netting was washed away.
Amid the wet and windy weather, thousands of commuters also suffered disruptions, with many train services in the South West and connections to London Paddington either cancelled or delayed.
Sky's weather producer Joanna Robinson said: "There’s some respite in the weather today, but it’s been a windy and wet week, with local flooding.
"A deep area of low pressure is set to move in over the weekend, bringing yet more heavy rain to areas already badly hit. England and Wales could see 15 to 25mm quite widely, with up to 50mm possible in some spots."
South and west Wales and the West Country will be worst affected, she said.
"The wind will strengthen over the weekend too, with gales or perhaps even severe gales possible Saturday night and Sunday morning," she said.
"There's still some uncertainty about where the strongest winds will be, but it looks like southern counties of England will bear the brunt, with exposed parts seeing gusts up to 70mph."
The Met Office said some areas saw up to 60mm of rain on Thursday.
Thousands of households in the South West and hundreds in Wales have been left without power after high winds brought down power lines.
The AA said the last few days have been some of its busiest for flood-related call-outs, with many roads impassable.
The RSPCA said it had received more than 140 calls about animals affected by flood water. In Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire, four horses which were unable to feed were rescued from a submerged field.
