Sources say she had gone to Dubai after the recent African First Ladies Summit in Abuja, in other to rest and recuperate.
Thus, her visit to Dubai was more or less a vacation though medical checkup was in view. it was while in Dubai, that she reportedly had "food poisoning" and soon after returned to Abuja last Monday. The emergency broke and she had to be airlifted to Wiesbaden, Germany.
Meanwhile, the presidency through the special adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati has denied reports indicating that the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan was indisposed and flown abroad for proper medical attention.
According to the first lady’s spokesman, Ayo Osinlu, Dame Patience did travel abroad, but she was only away to take a “moment’s rest” given that she has not taken a rest since President Jonathan’s election last year.
In my view, the first lady was indeed flown abroad for emergency medical care. The presidency only denies it because of precedence and the irony of having to fly the first lady abroad, while failing to provide proper medical care for Nigerians. People who can't afford medical treatment abroad nko?
God keep us all.
